Nine Musto skiffs were invited by Ovington boats to take part in an event which was held in front of the 2004 annual North Shields Fish Quay Festival on the 30th and 31st of May.

Local pubs, restaurants, and businesses sponsored all of the boats and each sail carried the sponsors sticker.

Hundreds of people lined the bank to watch some incredibly close racing and they were not disappointed.

Three races were held on the first day in a marginal breeze. The racing was very close with positions swapping all of the time. Kev Anderson as usual led overnight with Sten, James Mac, and Trotter hot on his heels.

The second day saw similar conditions and the usual collapse of Kev. Sten sailed well to overhaul Kev and take first place, with James taking advantage of some of the dogfights to pull through to 2nd, Kev was 3rd, and Trotter was 4th.

A fantastic night was had by all on the fun fair rides, dancing to a Madness tribute band, and a superb slap up nosh in the local Italian. Thanks must go to Ovi for the invites and the organization, and also Dave Hall and his team who ran the racing.

Finally I would just like to know where that ferry came from. One minute I thought I was clear with a cracking start, and the next I was rammed by Martin Boatman and a thirty-foot tall ship with its engines on full reverse. Spec savers here I come.

Thanks to all who came I know how much you all enjoyed it. Lets do it next year Dave
