The British Moth 75th Anniversary Season ended at Frampton on 13th October with the ‘Frampton Fling’. Almost 20 boats were attracted and tested in drifting conditions.

The wind did not arrive for Race 1 but in a shortened course did not stop Ian Haywood (Evesham) sailing thro Graham Pope (Avon) and current Nat Champ Rob Wilder (Tamesis) to take the win. Local boats Laura Honey & Roger Witts making up the top 5 positions.

Race 2 delayed but this time the wind did fill in. A shift of the start line was capitalised by Wilder who led from the start again followed by Haywood who clearly was revelling in the conditions that frustrated others, Witts moved into 3rd.

Race 3 was run ‘back to back’ with Race 2 and was an experimental Personal Handicap Race, 3 start groups were decided as a result of the first two race results and the fleet correspondingly divided into 3 start groups, starting at minute intervals. First to shine in the first group was Rupert Whelan (Whitefriars) who worked out an early lead as the wind died away. 6th place went to Hamish Grigor (Chippenham) who sadly leaves the BM Fleet as he moves to Scotland in November.

FOSSC and BMBA thank IMPCROSS LTD and Wet & Windy for their kind sponsorship.

Overall Results:

1st 846 Rob Wilder (Tamesis S.C.)
2nd 815 Ian Haywood (Evesham S.C.)
3rd 853 Graham Pope (Avon S.C.)
4th 797 Rupert Whelan (Whitefriars S.C.)
5th 859 Roger Witts (F.O.S.S.C.) 6th 700 Laura Honey F.O.S.S.C
