WESTON WIN IN SWSA SERIES
Appearing for the first time, Chuck Dandridge of Weston Sailing Club got off to a hesitant start in race 7 of the Southampton Water Sailing Association’s evening series for dinghies. Unfamiliarity with the sailing instructions initially disadvantaged Dandridge but once settled on the first leg, his Laser excelled, eventually developing a winning margin of over a minute on the 3 times previous winner Bram Sengers of Southampton University.
Further down the fleet, Alex Lowry helming the Southampton Sailing Club Wayfarer held things together admirably. More used to the sharp end of the boat, Alex stepped in for absent helm Chris Hollis, eventually securing 4th place and finishing just 2 minutes on corrected time behind William Waddington’s GP14.
The SWSA dinghy evening series is open to members of the 16 SWSA member clubs and to individual members of the RYA. For more information, please see www.swsa.org.uk
