This year is West Riding SC's Double Diamond Jubilee Year, celebrating 75 years since the club's establishment in 1937. To match this special year, WRSC will be holding special events throughout 2012:

  • 1st April – Northern Laser Grand Prix Series Event
  • 13th May – Solo Northern Travellers Series Event
  • 26th/27th May – Double Diamond Jubilee Open Regatta, including at time of going to press class starts for Lasers, Solos, and Mixed Dinghies plus the Streaker Northern Championships. The event will include free camping and WRSC's famous free evening entertainment.
  • 2nd/ 5th June – Vago Open Racing/ Training/ Fun Long Weekend.
  • 23/24th June – Summer Camp Weekend, including Introduction to Race Training.
  • 15th July – Double Diamond Jubilee "Go for Gold" Open Day
Details will shortly be available on the club website wrsc.org.uk

Meanwhile the Northern Brass Monkey Series was cancelled for the second weekend running. Races 3 & 4 were abandoned on 15th January due to lack of wind and sub-zero temperatures, and races 5 & 6 on 22nd January were buried in gale force winds with spectacular mini tornados whipping across the lake. The forecast for this Sunday 29th January is looking mid range and it is hoped to run races 7 & 8 starting at 12 noon.

The 14 race series runs through to 19th February inclusive, and is open to all boats with a PY 908 - 1386. Entry for the whole series is £20, or £4 per day and includes free berthing of boats during the series in secure compounds.
