Stand C129 – Wednesday 16 January 2013 – 11am

Join us for a tot of rum and enter the Thames Trafalgar Race Quiz at the launch of the Thames Trafalgar Race 2013 on Wednesday 16 January, 11am on the Little Ship Club stand C129 at the London Boat Show.

The race, co-organised by Erith Yacht Club and the Little Ship Club, is the first of its kind and will take place on 19 and 20 October 2013 to mark the Battle of Trafalgar.

Little Ship Club president and Erith YC honorary member Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will be at the stand to launch the race and the Commodores of the two clubs and Sir Robin will be photographed with the two club burgees. They will also be handing out tots of rum and inviting people to enter the Thames Trafalgar Race Quiz.

The Thames Trafalgar Race is a two-day stage race starting upstream near Tower Bridge on Saturday 19 October and ending at Erith Yacht Club having passed through the Thames Barrier (a neutral zone where no sailing is allowed and engines must be used).

On Sunday 20 October the second stage will start from Erith Yacht Club and end near Greenwich.

Entries to the race will open on 1 March 2013, with the race entry fee likely to be £20 per boat. A special discount has been negotiated with St Katharine Docks for boats wishing to come to London the weekend before and depart the weekend after the race. The rate of £100 for the entire period will be available for any boat proving race entry.

The Notice of Race will be published on 1 February 2013. If you wish to enter or to be added to the mailing list to receive updates, email

The Thames Trafalgar Race is one of two races on the Thames being promoted by the Little Ship Club. The Frostbite Race on 23 & 24 February 2013 is organised by five Thames clubs: Greenwich Yacht Club, Erith Yacht Club, Thurrock Yacht Club, Gravesend Sailing Club and Little Ship Club known as the Thames Yacht Racing Association.

The berthing arrangement with St Katharine Docks marina applies to both races.
