On the anniversary of the D-One becoming an RYA affiliated class, the D-One UK Class Association is running their own stand for the first time at the RYA Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace. The D-One class has appeared at the Dinghy Show before, usually on a commercial stand, but the UK Association is now strong enough to stand on their own feet.
Tim Garvin, UK Class Association Chairman, said, "This is a big step forward in the development of the UK Class, thanks to the hard work of the committee members and sailors from the UK fleet; we can now take responsibility for all UK activities."
2012 was a great year for the D-One, with a good turn out at regattas and a memorable Nationals at Lymington Town Sailing Club. UK sailors also acquitted themselves well at the D-One Gold Cup in Alassio in October.
Jon Hammond, UK Class Secretary said, "2012 was a great year but 2013 has got off to an even better start. Used boats have changed hands and new boats have been bought and the Association has more new members."
The D-One Class Association will be on stand G26 in the West Hall at the RYA Dinghy Show, Alexandra Palace, Saturday and Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd March. The stand will be manned by friendly and enthusiastic D-One owners, who are looking forward to telling you how you can join the class and enjoy some great sailing in 2013.
