Abersoch Dinghy Week 2013 - Preview

Abersoch Dinghy Week, sailed under the burgee of the South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club, is not only one of Yachts and Yachting's recommended, 'must do events', it's a wonderful family occasion with an extensive social program including live bands, BBQs in the Club House overlooking the beautiful Cardigan Bay, children's racing, coaching sessions for children and a golden sandy beach for all the family to enjoy.

The races are usually 2 hours long and extend over 6 days with the normal best 5 races to count. If you have not sailed there before it has to be one of the top places in the UK to sail. The event includes access and use of a fantastically placed club house and is run from a long beach for launching and storage without having to pull your boat far.

The event has something on at the club every night and usually there are around 300 boats attending – this really is a 'must do event'. Racing starts on Sunday 21st July 2013 at 11am for the morning fleets and at 2pm for the afternoon fleets. The NOR and further details for the event will be published shortly – in the meantime get this week in your diary.

This year the week is being sponsored by Crewsaver and GJW Direct Insurance. Sponsors GJW Direct launched their, 'all-inclusive' dinghy insurance scheme last year. Their policies include full racing risk cover, transit and trailer cover, refund of race entry fee, kit bag and contents cover and new for old on all items. GJW Direct will have a representative present during SCYC Dinghy week to discuss their dinghy policy with participants and offer a very competitive insurance quote.
