Key Yachting and the 1720 Class Association have today announced that they have reached an agreement with Murphy & Nye which includes title sponsorship of the 1720 UK Nationals, to be held at the Royal Southern Yacht Club in July, and also the 1720 Euro Championship which will take place on Lake Garda in Italy in September 2005.

Murphy & Nye started out as sailmakers in the US in the 1930s and have remained major players in the yachting world ever since. Now Italian owned, the Murphy & Nye clothing range holds true to the original concept of quality through design by which the brand has become synonymous with our sport. The M&N range features high performance, low maintenance, technical sailing wear including jackets, trousers, shorts and accessories, in addition to contemporary shore-side fashion collections for men and women.

Sara Grain of Murphy & Nye said ‘I’m delighted with the agreement we have reached with the 1720 Class. I sail the boats myself and I know there is a strong affinity between our brand and the girls and boys who sail 1720s. We have been very careful to put together a package which will offer something for everyone involved, whether it be in the form of prizes won at our events, some serious Murphy & Nye partying, or perhaps the purchase of some items from our 2005 collection, specially priced to suit the 1720 sailor’s wallet’.

Conor Clark, Chairman of the 1720 Class Association said ‘I’m thrilled with the deal we have agreed with Murphy and Nye. The aim is to ensure that everyone in the fleet feels the benefit of the alliance and it’s particularly exciting for the Class this year, with our trip to Italy for the M&N 1720 Europeans happening in September. I hope that this will be the start of a long term relationship with Murphy & Nye’.

The Notice of Race and Entry Forms for the Murphy & Nye 1720 UK Nationals will be posted to all 1720 owners next week and it will include information about the M&N clothing range and how each owner can benefit from the agreement with Class’ new sponsor.
