Itchenor Sailing Club is throwing open its doors to visitors on Sunday May 17th for an Open Day. Sailors are welcome as are those who might like to dip their toes in the water and have a go at sailing. The club offers something for everyone – young or old, experienced orinexperienced. Itchenor boasts probably the country's largest day boat fleet, from the classic design of the XOD, the elegance of the Sunbeam or the Swallow with its Olympic legacy. There are also seven dinghy classes to try out – from the Mirror dinghy (the county's largest fleet is at Itchenor) to the extreme excitement of the International 14. Visitors should not be put off by their lack of experience; training courses are available for all ages.
From Itchenor sailors have access to the beautiful waters of Chichester Harbour at all states of the tide and are able to compete on up to three separate courses each set from a dedicated committee boat.
Ashore the club is proud of its facilities based around its listed clubhouse run by a dedicated in-house staff with an award winning chef. Accommodation is also available and Itchenor Sailing Club, with its outstanding surroundings, is available for weddings and corporate events.
Supported by Strutt and Parker, Itchenor's Open Day runs from 9:30 in the morning and is part of the RYA's "Push The Boat Out" programme which is designed to encourage more people to take up the rewarding sport of sailing.
