Launched in June 2014 some 200 RYA members have taken advantage of the Refer a Friend scheme introducing their friends and family to the benefits of RYA membership and helping build RYA membership to over 105,000 members.

"Refer a Friend was introduced a year ago to reward members for recommending RYA membership to their friends and family. Since its launch the scheme has proved very popular with many keen to let their friends and family know all about the many great reasons why they should become an RYA member too", commented Conor Swift, RYA Membership Development Manager.

The scheme offers new members 25% discount on the price of their chosen membership type; and once the friend or family member has signed up the referring member will receive a special thank gift of either an exclusive RYA branded umbrella or five litre RYA branded dry bag from OverBoard.

As well as a whole host of benefits, rewards, discounts and offers, every member that joins the RYA adds their voice to the existing 105,000 members in support of the work of the RYA does ensuring that legislators, regulators and other authorities understand and take account of recreational boating activity.

"Our members are our greatest advocates in spreading the word about RYA membership and the benefits membership awards. And the more members we have, the louder our voice to act on members behalf to protect their freedom to use the water responsibly, with the minimum of restrictions, so why not refer your friends and family today", added Conor.

Taking part in the Refer a Friend scheme is simple:

  • Complete the referral form including the name and email address of your friend together with a reason why they should join the RYA
  • Select your referral gift
  • We'll invite your friend to join the RYA by email with a 25% discount for their first year's membership
  • If your friend becomes a member, you receive your selected referral gift in the post, it's that easy

RYA members enjoy discounts on Spinlock's new junior lifejacket

RYA member partner Spinlock is delighted to offer RYA members discounts on its newly launched junior inflatable lifejacket from its award winning Deckvest Range and the Deckvest CENTO Junior Lifejacket Harness.

Members can enjoy a substantial 25% discount, while RYA Gold and Instructor Members enjoy a 30% saving on the Deckvest CENTO Junior, offering younger lifejacket wearers a modern, correctly fitting lifejacket that looks and feels 'grown-up'.

Perfect for children and teenagers, age range 8 to 16 years old, 20-50kgs, the CENTO offers 100N of inflatable buoyancy in a compact, lightweight lifejacket. Simple to put on, adjust and wear for long periods, the CENTO offers young sailors and water users freedom of movement and flexibility, in a grown up lifejacket, coupled with the benefits of a harness attachment point.

Available in Pacific Blue and Grenadine Pink the Deckvest CENTO is compact, lightweight and correctly proportioned for a junior user.

Junior sailors have often been forced to wear bulky, uncomfortable and unattractive lifejackets when out on the water, whilst around them other personal equipment for sailing has become lighter, more interesting and more exciting. The Deckvest CENTO offers the younger wearer all the features, and more, of the award winning Deckvest LITE lifejacket, in a compact 100 Newton version.

Spinlock Sales and Marketing Manager James Hall comments: "With Deckvest CENTO our design team were excited to tackle a project for the younger water user, a user who in the past has been constrained into wearing a lifejacket that often spoils their enjoyment of being on the water. Using experience from our existing range of award winning lifejackets we have been able to bring sharp focus to the key aspects of lifejacket design, comfort, ergonomic fit, clean sharp design and most importantly weight reduction, making the Deckvest CENTO a proper piece of sports equipment for the junior sailor or watersports enthusiast."

"This a great new addition to our range of RYA member benefits and I'm sure many of our members will be taking advantage of this great offer", commented Conor Swift, RYA Membership Development Manager.

Features of the Deckvest CENTO Junior Lifejacket:

  • Junior 100N Lifejacket Harness
  • Compact and lightweight, with body form fitting
  • 20-50kgs person weight
  • Soft loop attachment point
  • Lightweight easy adjust belt
  • Single Crotch Straps
  • Automatic inflation - UML Mk 5
