With 3 days to go it's time to take a look ahead to what competitors and followers can look forward to!
This year we have the fantastic support of Allen Brothers heading up sponsorship of the Nationals in conjunction with Noble Marine, StayDri, Dritek, Pinnell & Bax, The Cornerstone Bar and Tiger Treats of Looe so you can bet there will be some great prizes up for grabs!
So far we have 67 entries for the Nationals with a handful more expected on the day. This will be our biggest championship in years! The draw of sailing at Looe in such a hotly contested fleet has obviously helped draw the big numbers. We can't wait to see what all those blue sails are going to look like taking over Looe.
Let's have a look at who the runners and riders are in the mix for the trophy!
Attention must be paid to our current multiple National Champions, Mark Lunn & Steve Blackburn in the Sailboats/SpeedSails boat. This past year they've taken some time out to do some singlehanded sailing but don't let that fool you, this is ONLY going to further strengthen their abilities so the strong favourite.
What about the renowned Peak Dinghy team of Tim Sadler & Saulty, in their flash new boat? The partnership within this boat goes back years and their teamwork is unrivaled. One of the hot favourites to take the title this year.
North Sails team Paul Hobson/Hannah Sadler have come so close in the past few championships, could this be the year Chimp knuckles down and takes the nationals title back home.
Nobody can forget the dominating performance Ges Brown/Julie Moore put in at the Nationals last year, just losing the title on the last day. He's got a new boat, word on the street is Ges has been pumping iron all winter getting in shape for this one! If they keep it consistent, this could be their year. Contender.
Jeremy Stephens, one of the southern hot shots and 2014 Inland Champion, he's got the fitness and ability to push it all the way up those long beats, in with a chance.
The Fry's return! These two are back from a break away from the class to marry/have children and their hungrier than ever. No introduction needed for Chris & Al. Don't write them off.
If the going is tough, the wind strong, waves big, the Crewsaver/Allen team of Matt Velamail and Tim Brownell could pull through in the conditions they relish.
Pinnell & Bax's Steve Graham & Alex Halliwell have been getting faster and faster since their new MK3 boat was delivered and having come close in recent years they will surely be driving their boat to the front.
How about Russ Short & Jess Law, whether it's windy, light, shifty or champagne, this team proves fast in all conditions. Consistency could be they key to this year's high turnout and unlocking the championship for this pair.
And not forgetting the battle for the female title, Current world champion Ann Jackson & Alan Skeens will look to defend against arch rivals Alice Allen & Sharkey and Jane & Nick Scutt in this annual showdown! Game on!
That's just a snapshot of this years entrants but there are plenty more in this fleet that could sneak in to take the win. Were set for some extremely close racing, what Enterprises are renowned for!
This year we have a great social calendar to include commodores welcome, fancy dress evening – don't forget your fairytale outfit – there will be prizes for best dressed! And also crews union on the Tuesday!
A note to all competitors please make sure all your boats are measured prior to arriving, primarily jib fairleads, mast foot position and black bands on your spars. It will make the process much easier for everyone involved, it is YOUR responsibility not the measurers.
Sailing Instructions will be available on the day.
The Notice of Race is available on the website www.sailenterprise.co.uk
All competitors & followers please make sure you follow our official twitter page @entassociation for live updates from the race office, results, news, pictures & videos. You will also find daily reports available on the facebook group and yachts and yachting.
I think we can all say this is going to be a fantastic event, stay tuned!
