Premium British marine and lifestyle clothing brand, Henri Lloyd will be supporting disabled yachtsman and accomplished solo offshore sailor Keith White in his next sailing challenge, sailing single-handed and non-stop around the World via the three capes.
Keith was delighted when Henri Lloyd contacted him. The clothing brand has offered him a full wardrobe of technical sailing apparel for his next disabled sailing adventure. In his own words Keith stated;
"It's great to have Henri Lloyd onboard with my 'World Challenge'. I'm thrilled to be associated with Henri Lloyd and their unrivalled sailing heritage. I will be wearing their Ocean Pro range which will help to protect me from the extreme conditions of the Southern Oceans, I am extremely grateful for their support, which has given my challenge a huge leap forward".
Keith, originally from London where he learnt to sail on the Thames and Medway, now lives on the Isle of Wight so he can spend more time on the water. Keith lost the use of his left arm in a motorway accident back in 1991. But his disability has not prevented him from living and fulfilling his dreams. In fact it has spurred him on to achieve great things.
In 2005, Keith was the first physically disabled sailor to sail unassisted and single handed around Great Britain & Ireland against the prevailing winds. Then in 2007 he was the first physically disabled sailor to sail unassisted and single-handed across the Atlantic, up the East Coast of America to Boston then returned across the Atlantic to England.
In October 2015, Keith will embark of his biggest challenge to date. Sailing single-handed and non-stop around the World unassisted.
The voyage, which Keith expects to take him 10 months will be the pinnacle of the Keith sailing career. Keith will sail alone and isolated against the extremes of the environment and to the limit of his own mental and physical capability. He's determined to show that even if you are disabled we all can do the impossible dream.
"Henri Lloyd have always supported pioneers of the ocean, we were inspired by Keith's grit and determination to achieve his dream and we would like to wish him every success in his latest challenge and his incredible journey". Paul Strzelecki, Joint CEO Henri Lloyd.
Henri Lloyd and Keith worked closely together to select the correct attire for his 10 month circumnavigation via the three great capes. Henri Lloyd's Ocean Pro range will play a big part in offering protection against the extreme elements he will encounter, whilst the Fast Dri range will offer essential UV protection on a daily basis.
As Keith only has the use of one hand to sail his yacht Marathon, the correct selection of gloves to offer protection also was of uppermost importance.
At time of print: Keith will be starting his incredible voyage from Cowes, IOW in the week of the 19th October 2015.
