2016 will be a significant and busy year for the International 5O5 Class Association. Not only will the UK class again have a strong presence at the RYA Dinghy Show but they are also playing hosts to the 2016 World Championships to be held between 27th July and 5th August at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

Today the 5O5 offers some of the most competitive and challenging racing outside the Olympic classes and for 2016 it is again attracting a number of the very best international dinghy sailors.

The 2016 event also celebrates the inaugural Classic Championship for boats over 25 years old again at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Class Secretary Ben Iliffe said "the interest in the Classic regatta has been fantastic and there is no doubt that the life it will breath into UK 5O5 sailing will be a terrific legacy for the class going forward and perhaps even for it to become a part of the classic dinghy racing scene across the UK"

The Class has 3 boats on show this year all of which will attract interest for different reasons. On the Class stand C86 we will have Ian Pinnell's recently launched Ovington / P&B boat and alongside it the current (twice) world championship winning boat owned by Mike Holt and Carl Smit – this boat is believed to have won more championship races than any other and will be going for a third title in a row at Weymouth this year!

On the Harken stand G8 will be Bruce Edward's brand new Ovington/Pinnell boat. Come and see how the 5O5 exploits the very latest in dinghy hardware.

Please visit us on the stand and we would be glad to show you around the best racing dinghy in the world. If you are coming to the Worlds or the Classics come and find out about the training events in the build-up and what help is available to get you involved. The class is renowned for its warm welcome to new 5O5 sailors and there is all the help and advice you could possibly need available at this year's RYA Dinghy Show.

The Worlds regatta program begins with the UK open Championships on the 27th and 28th of July as a 'pre-Worlds' warm up regatta with the 9 race World Championships starting on 30th July. The Classics will run from the 30th July to the 5th August.
