The 2007 Mirror Worlds Championships prizegiving ceremony was held this morning at the Algoa Bay Yacht Club. Master of Ceremonies, Kerry Bonnage introduced the speakers who included, ABYC Commodore Derek Bouwer, Mirror Class President Patrick Blaney, Mirror Worlds Organising Committe Chairman Eric Marshall and UK Mirror Class President Simon Lovesey.
Derek Bouwer thanked all the sailors for their participation and got everyone to stand up, turn to their left, reach out their left hands and pat the person next to them on the back for a "Job well done".
Patrick Blaney commended the sailors and regatta personnel on an excellent regatta with excellent sailing and promised to come back to Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Simon Lovesey asked local organiser and regatta secretary extraordinaire, Glynis Baer, to come up and receive a small token of esteem. No-one will ever forget Glynis's announcements; "The last bus will be leaving in 10 minutes"

Anna Mackenzie and Holly Scott got the opportunity to say a few words. They had this to say about the sailing; "The sailing in Port Elizabeth is probably some of the best we've ever had and we've been very lucky with the conditions." Anna and Holly went on to also thank all involved especially their parents and the other competitors for providing such close and exciting racing but, there was a naughty catch to that statement as they closed with the following words; "Although you did get beaten by a couple of girlies!"
This is the first time that a South Africa team has featured in the Top Three countries on aggregrate and Sieraj Jacobs won the Asia Trophy for the second time since 1997 in the same boat that he sailed on then.
