SW Topper Traveller Summer Series Round 1 at Paignton Sailing Club

Many thanks to Paignton Sailing Club for a fantastic weekend opening our SW Topper Traveller summer series on 22nd and 23rd April 2023. It was great to see so many new sailors joining us for this event.

There was the usual coaching on the Saturday before the races on the Sunday. The English Riviera delivered on Saturday with a building afternoon breeze. Sundays race day brought variable and shifty conditions, different in each race, and an April shower during the last, brought even more variety. There were three winners of the four races with close competition throughout the fleet.

Paignton SC were fantastic hosts: Great race organisation and a warm Topper welcome of a free bowl of pasta for chilly sailors once they were ashore.

Well done to Thomas Semmens, Harry Mills and Edward Lee for their 1,2,3 in the 5.3sqm class, to Ollie Rawlings for coming top in the 4.2sqm class, and big congratulations to Endeavour prize winner Topper-Traveller-first-timer Leo Kaneko.

Our next SW Topper Traveller event is 13th and 14th May at Saltash SC: coaching on Saturday and Racing on the Sunday. First-timers are always welcome to the Topper Family, and at Saltash (my club), there is free camping nearby and even some boats to lend. See you there!
