Volvo Cork Week 2024 will welcome an exciting addition to its line-up of competitive sailing classes as the RS21 One Design Class makes its debut at this renowned regatta, 15th - 19th July 2024.

Volvo Cork Week has earned a reputation as one of the premier sailing events in Europe, with a rich history dating back to the 1970s and attracting sailors from all around the world. The inclusion of the RS21 One Design Class is a testament to the event's commitment to providing diverse and challenging racing opportunities for all participants.

Introduced in 2019, the RS21 is a relatively new addition to the world of sailboat racing. It has rapidly gained popularity thanks to its emphasis on close, tactical racing and its accessibility for sailors of varying skill levels. The RS21 had a breakthrough season in 2023 with 55 boats at the World Championships in Sardinia, a first visit to Dun Laoghaire week, and rapidly growing fleets in the USA, Canada, Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Volvo Cork Week's organisers are excited about the RS21 One Design Class's fresh energy. It has the potential to attract a new generation of sailors to the regatta, as well as providing seasoned competitors with a dynamic new racing experience.

Sailors and fans alike can anticipate thrilling, closely contested races as crews compete in identical RS21 boats, levelling the playing field and intensifying the competition. This class also encourages camaraderie among sailors, as they share the same equipment and have opportunities to learn from each other throughout the event. Success on the racecourse is determined by the skill and strategy of the crew rather than differences in equipment.

RS Ireland and Volvo Cork Week will be providing RS21 charter boats for international and local teams looking to combine a historic sailing event with the latest in keelboat racing. Chartering an RS21 keelboat for Volvo Cork Week 2024 offers international teams a hassle-free solution, eliminating the need to transport and rig their own boats. Given the limited availability of racing boats in Ireland, this option provides an accessible avenue for participants. With a seamless charter process, teams can focus on perfecting their strategy and enjoying the exhilarating racing experience.

The RS21 keelboat's design and performance make it an ideal choice for competitive sailors, and the convenience of chartering allows international teams to participate in Volvo Cork Week without the logistical burdens typically associated with bringing their own boats. For charter and RS21 information please contact Kenneth Rumball of RS Ireland:

As crews set their sights on the stunning waters of Cork Harbour, Ireland for July 2024, the RS21 One Design Class promises to add an extra layer of excitement and intrigue to an already prestigious event. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a newcomer to the sport, Volvo Cork Week 2024 is shaping up to be an unforgettable celebration of sailboat racing, sportsmanship, and spirited socialising.
