Craftinsure Bass Week entry open to visitors in 2 months

Despite it being Groundhog Day just a few days ago, members and friends of Bassenthwaite Sailing Club have lots of diverse events to look forward to in the forthcoming 2024 sailing season.

The Catapult open meeting and Mirror northern champs kick off our open meeting calendar on the early May bank holiday. Just two weeks later (18/19 May) we welcome the combined GP14 northern champs and the Solo open meeting, sponsored by Cumbrian Ales.

On the 15/16th June the site will be buzzing with youth sailors competing for North West Junior Travellers, sponsored by Ginger Boats. Moving into July (Sat 6th) it's a one-day combined Laser and RS Tera open meeting. Just in time for the kids finishing school, Bass SC is delighted to be hosting the 2024 NSSA National Youth Regatta (21-27 July), where hundreds of youth sailors will go to battle in class racing for Toppers and ILCAs, handicap fleets for everything else including a coached rookie fleet for those still developing their racing skills.

Just one week later, it's the big one, the legendary week-long family regatta, Craftinsure Bass Week, starting on 3rd August. We are delighted to announce Craftinsure as our Bass Week title sponsor for the fourth year running. Entry for Bass Week opens on April 2nd for visitors. Early booking is highly recommended to secure your place in this 9 day sell out regatta.

Moving into September the Tinkers will join the FF15s at their northern champs and 2025 worlds qualifier on the 7/8 September, sponsored by Impact Marine. Then onto the other big one on the 21/22 September, the Great North Asymmetric Challenge, aka the GNAC, sponsored by Trident. A firm favourite in the northern calendar and part of the VX One circuit and the RS200/400 northern tour. 63 boats made it to last year's start line, with young and old asymmetric sailors from all over the north racing in boats of all shapes and sizes, including foiling Cherubs, RS Fevas and VX Ones. As in previous years, many Bass sailing events will once again benefit from first class rescue and safety from our friends at Red Seal Rescue.

As always, legendary Bass hospitality welcomes all visitors to the club. And other than the one-day open in July, visitors are invited to camp, during open meetings, on our extensive grounds in the Lake District National Park. For further information visit bassenthwaite-sc.org.uk
