Enterprise Inland Championships at Burton Sailing Club

by Paula Southworth 30 Apr 2007 07:15 BST 28-29 April 2007

Nick Craig with his new crew, Fiona Clark, has done it again! He is the Enterprise Inlands Champion 2007 – congratulations, what an impressive performance, 4 bullets and a second place.

This event took place at Burton Sailing Club which was an excellent venue for the event, although the location was quite well hidden – giving the opportunity for scenic tours around Foremark Reservoir before finding Burton SC.

The weekend provided excellent wind and enabled the Championship to run its predicted 5 races. Race 1 and 2 raced on Saturday were sailed in a steady Force 4 to 5 on quite choppy water which provided the sailors with plenty of opportunity to practice capsize and test their fixtures and fittings!

Race 3, 4 and 5 took place in a slightly lighter wind but it still recorded a steady 3 to 4 and proved to be a second day of challenging conditions with an added chill factor.

The fleet enjoyed good courses, and thoroughly enjoyed events both on and off the water. The prize giving concluded this enjoyable weekend, giving Nick a logistics problem of how to take home the many prizes he won!
