Gul and Yachts & Yachting Pimp My Crew Winner Announced

by Katie Drummond-Dunn, Gul International 28 Feb 2008 16:16 GMT

The winner of the Pimp my Crew Competition has been chosen to receive the massive prize from Gul International and Yachts and Yachting magazine at the Dinghy Show being held on the 1st – 2nd March.

Graham Ireland from Royal Harwich Yacht Club has been selected as the winner of the 2008 Pimp my Crew competition. Graham will receive a new set of sailing apparel from the Gul range and a days coaching with a member of Skandia Team GBR plus two free tickets to the Dinghy Show this weekend at Alexander Palace.

Malcolm Mackley, who nominated Graham for this competition, had this to say about the eventual winner:

“Graham is a legend on the East Coast. He sails EVERY weekend at RHYC. He has helped endless juniors and seniors learn to sail in National 12s and Lasers. He crewed for me at this years Ajax Championship. Graham has a heart of gold but is incredibly badly dressed! It’s just the way he is. Ask anyone in the East Coast dinghy fleet and they will say Graham is your man.”

The staff from Gul will be meeting up with Graham at the Dinghy Show to discuss his sailing kit needs and sorting him out from head to toe with latest technical apparel for the season ahead. Graham will be on the Gul stand, C68, at 4pm so that he can also speak to Skandia Team GBR sailors Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes about the Gul sailing kit and their partnership with Gul leading up the 2008 Olympic Games. When notifying Graham that he had won the competition and would be meeting the 49er hopefuls at the Dinghy Show, he explained that it was quite ironic, as back in the mid-nineties his Pimp my Crew nominator Malcolm lent a boat to a young Stevie Morrison for a race very early on in his competitive career!

Graham will be kitted out with garments mainly from the Code Zero range. The slick black colour ways, stretch fabrics and action fit designs will ensure that Graham will never be considered badly dressed on the water again.

For advice on up-dating your own sailing wardrobe with the latest dinghy racing kit visit the Gul stand, C68, where staff will be on hand throughout the weekend to help you choose the best performance apparel for your dinghy sailing needs. Gul will be exhibiting all the latest products from its highly successful Code Zero range. The 2008 Code Zero collection has seen a number of new products added, including the revolutionary drysuit, split toe boot and longjohns/janes, all of which will be on display at the show.

Sailor signing times Gul International Stand C68:

  • Paul Goodison – Saturday 1st March – 11am – 12pm
  • Stevie Morrison & Ben Rhodes – Saturday 1st March – 4pm – 4:30pm
  • Nick Dempsey – Sunday 2nd March – 2pm – 3pm
