Double gold Olympic medalist Ben Ainslie kicked off the 2008 RYA Dinghy Sailing Show, in association with Yachts and Yachting and Suzuki, this weekend at London’s Alexandra Palace (01-02 March).
Following a few words to the gathered crowd Ben cut the ribbon to open the show and with a blast of the starter’s horn the eagerly anticipated 2008 show was declared open.
Ben said: “Being the only show in the world dedicated to dinghy sailors, it really is a must for the calendar. It’s a fantastic opportunity for sailors of all ages and abilities to get together and hear from some of the top sailors, coaches and instructors in the sport, as well as pick up some of the latest kit and boats around. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store.”
Jenny Curry, Dinghy Sailing Show event organiser said: “We are delighted that Ben could come and open this year’s show, he is a great ambassador for the sport and undoubtedly one of our greatest dinghy sailors, I know he is a great inspiration to all the dinghy enthusiasts attending the show.”
Last year the show was a great success and we are hoping that following such a great opening, this year’s show proves just as popular.”
