The latest Seldén Series 2 mast and BC086 carbon boom will be displayed on the Seldén stand (B44) at the dinghy show this year.
The spars will be displayed on one of the latest winder constructed boats recently delivered to David Hayes. The boat has been fitted out with Seldén Deck Hardware and Performance Ropes, Winder Boats will complete another boat to this specification for Tim Fells next month.
The spars are to the latest Merlin Rocket Specification, the mast is produced from Intermediate Modulus pre-preg tow using the filament winding process for high consistency, light weight spars. The fit out of the mast includes a carbon luff track and fully adjustable carbon spreaders as standard. The boom is made from the Seldén profiled boom section BC086 giving excellent vertical stiffness while minimising the tube weight.
As with all Seldén carbon products, the tube specification has been wound specifically for the class on which it will be used, in this case a laminate stiffness and strength to give optimum performance for the Merlin rocket. Both the boom and tube have external reinforcements to match the fit out of the Merlin rocket specification giving the lightest strengthening possible without creating hard spots
.
With a number of the top UK sail makers now using the Seldén product it is fast becoming a popular choice among sailors. Recent results include a win for Tom Stewart & Steve Hall the Hoo Freezer.
