Entries are now open for the 2011 Port of Plymouth Regatta, the major annual sailing event organised by the Port of Plymouth Sailing Association with major sponsorship by the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners.
This year the Regatta Dinghy Series for the premier trophies takes place over the weekend 6/7 August with 4 races each day and laid courses set inside or outside the Breakwater, dependent upon conditions.
Separate evening dinghy races with stand alone prizes will be held on Wednesday 3th, Thursday 4th, and Friday 5th August.
Following the success of the 2010 series the Rookie Series is also in the programme for 2011, offering youngsters who can sail the opportunity to get into racing and receive expert coaching and tuition from the local RYA Onboard team.
A full shoreside programme will be backing up the activity afloat, with a prize giving and raffle draw each day at host clubs, and live music and other entertainment at the Mountbatten Watersports and Activity Centre (MBC) over the weekend of the 6/7 August.
There is free dinghy berthing at Elphinstone and the MBC* (*subject to availability).
Other sponsors include Mayflower Marina, Westways, Plymouth Yacht Haven, Mountbatten Watersports and Activities Centre, Sutton Harbour Marina, and Ullman Sails.
