The Larks at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show
by James Ward 3 Mar 2011 12:51 GMT
Stand F14, 5-6 March 2011
The Lark Class always enjoy exhibiting at the Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace and this weekend is certainly no exception, especially as this year the class will be proudly showing off their brand new stand kindly donated by Matt Newton-Sherlock from Peyton Printers who is himself a keen Lark sailor.
The class will also be showing off a brand new ‘Ovington Boats’ built and fitted Lark on the stand. Actually, this very boat is available for all newcomers who wish to give the Lark a go at an event near them during 2011. So why not come to the Lark stand and sign up to use this very boat at a Try-a-Lark session near you. What better way to ‘try before you buy’ than a brand new boat kitted out with new fittings, foils, spars and sails.
The Lark Class has worked closely with its builder, ‘Ovington Boats’, to allow the use of this brand new demo boat for the forthcoming season. Ovington Boats took over building the Lark in 2009 and so far have been producing some of the finest Larks the class has seen for many years, so be sure to drop in on the Lark Stand during your Dinghy Show visit to check out this quality built boat.
The Larks are a class that offers Friendly competitive racing for all ages and abilities, so whether you are a current Lark sailor or you think the Lark might be the class for you, then go and visit the Lark stand to meet up with current Lark sailors and have a chat about everything Lark.
Also occurring on the stand over the weekend will be:
- An interview with the class builder
- Prize competition to name the new demo boat
- 2011 Fixture circuit information, including the eagerly awaited national championships in Abersoch
- New and 2nd hand boat availability info
- Launch of the 2011 Lark Class merchandise
- Boat set-up and tuning sessions
- Interview with top Lark sailors
- Information packs with all manner of Lark info
- And of course to sign up to use the new demo boat
Further information on the timetable of events will be shown on the stand over the weekend.
Dan Watson, Lark Class Chairman said “For the Lark Class, this is going to be a Dinghy Show like no other! A lot of hard work has been put in this year into making the stand, and associated events, the best ever. The class is at a very exciting time at the moment with new members joining the class, who are appreciating the exceptional value-for-money sailing that the Lark Class offers. We are looking forward to the Dinghy Show and telling everybody all the great reasons why they should also come and join the Larks.”
The Lark Class stand is F14 in the West Hall.
