The last of the SE Area Enterprise meetings on 9th October saw Frensham in a challenging mood with the south westerly as strong as forecast and gusting to force 6 or more which made for very exciting sailing, the weed problem having gone in August.

Ann Jackson and Alan Skeens finished ahead of 4 other visitors in the first race, the tricky conditions giving many a ducking including the most promising home challengers Katrina and Colin Gilbert.

The first race after lunch proved slightly quieter and it was the chance for David and John Beaney to show the way closely followed by Martin and Laurence Davies and Katrina. Peter Jackson came with a view to retaining the trophy but could not stay for the later races.

The race officer Keith Videlo kept the same course again for the final race while the wind pepped up making for more exciting moments. The racing stayed very close and Martin’s steady improvement throughout the day gave them the final race and, on the tie-break, the award of the Packard Cup.

Sharing the water with the GP14 fleet proved no problem with everyone being well mannered and overall it was exhausting but a great day.
