Sunday Winter Series at Lymington Town Sailing Club - Day 4

by Barry Sticklen 31 Oct 2011 16:10 GMT 30 October 2011

The sailors competing in race 4 of the LTSC Winter Series were greeted with a damp and mild start with a useable 15-20 knot South Westerly.

The fast fleet were sent off on a complex course in the Western Solent with the McEwen’s RS 800 leading from the start. The lead was maintained throughout and resulted in a handicap victory. Several others in the fleet capsized and this spread the fleet with the outcome seeing boats finishing in excess of 20 minutes of the leader in an hours racing. Ed Reeves sailed a solid race in his RS 700 to finish second with the Cooper / Wigley combo holding on to third in their RS 400.

The medium fleet sailed the same course as the fast and again the ever consistent Myles Mence in his Blaze sailed impeccably to set up a huge lead and handicap win. There seemed to be confusion about the long course and some competitors were spotted sailing their own versions. However after an action packed contest Tim Knight in a Laser followed Mence into second place with Mike Beggs and Vicki Leen in the Stratos taking third.
