2-3 March 2013
The British Contender Association had another great year at the show with many people showing interest in this evergreen class which regularly has entries of nearly 150 at major European events.
The Dee Mackonochie Memorial Junior Boat Lend Scheme was well received by all although there were some disappointed juniors who weren't quite old enough, for them, don't worry, we'll be running the scheme next year, so keep an eye on the BCA site and YachtsandYachting.com for news and entry for that early next year. The closing date for the competition is midnight on the 10th March 2013, so if you didn't get a chance to see us at the show there's still time to email your entry through.
A big thank you is due to the Jim Mackonochie for the boat for this scheme and also the sponsors of the scheme, namely, Wavelength for a pristine sail, Kingfisher who couldn't have been more meticulous in their rope supplying, batching up and labelling from our cutting list, Craftinsure.com for covering the the boat for a year, RB Sports travel for their tireless advetising of the scheme and getting DFDS on board and Selden.
And of course the menbers of the Class and committee who put the stand together, manned it and took it apart on Sunday, good work lads.
As usual there was the perennial problem of demand outstripping supply for these beautiful boats, so if anyone reading this has an old boat they don't use anymore, please put it up for sale in the YachtandYachting.com Classifieds or if you're feeling generous donate it to the class so that we can give others the opportunity of sailing in this great class.
