Hot sunshine and a light force 2 breeze attracted 15 boats to this years Mirror Open meeting. Racing took place just downriver of the island at Woodbridge.

Race one kicked off in a very light but strengthening breeze. A triangular course was set with a beat against the tide and a second reach too tight to hold the spinnaker. The initial beat caused some confusion with Tim and Matt Davis being the only boat to take the left side of the beat. It paid off and they reached the windward mark with a good 50-yard lead. Robin and Felicity Parsons soon overtook them with superior boat speed to win the race, with Tim and Matt Davis holding onto second place.

The second race took place after a good lunch back at the club. A similar triangular course was set but the spinnaker could be held on both downwind legs. The racing was dominated by a close contest between the Parsons and Ray Smith with Sarah Glanvill.

The third and final race started on a strong ebbing tide with downriver beat followed by a long run back against the tide before resuming the now familiar triangular course for two laps. The greater emphasis on running created some closer racing and although the Parsons managed to clinch another victory, John Holder and Stephen Osborn were close behind. James Griffith and George Miller came in third to earn themselves first under 15 boat.
