Cadet Worlds in Nieuwpoort, Belgium Overall

by Steve Proffitt 11 Aug 2003 08:45 BST

The final day dawned to find wind in the boat park. A good force 3 rattling the halyards. However there was a sea mist and with a deadline for starting the last race of 12.30pm there was some debate about if there would be a race. Fortunately there was. James finished 4th, Jodie 7th, Elliott 11th, Guy 12th and Adam 13th.

This meant that the Cadet World Champions for 2003 were the Argentinean girls Maria Agustina Torre & Maria del Rosar Torre. James Wade and Katie Barr had finished second overall. Adam Richards and Sam Muskett were 9th, Oren Richards and Connie Stock 15th, Guy Brearey and Christopher Proffitt 19th, Andrew Mackay and Jonathon Kimber 20th, Elliott Parsons and Jenny Lennon 21st and Jodie and Stevie Green 25th. This placed all the team in the top 25. Oren Richards and Connie Stock were the first under 15’s boat.

The promotional fleet saw David Brewer win the race from Victoria Cooper, Jack Lees-Smith/Alistair Laycock and fourth Ben Stone/James Eminson.

The final placings saw British boats filling the top 25 places. Andrew Twinn and Aaron Cooper winning on 32 points from David and Katrina Brewer on 33 points. Thomas Makey and Claire Dallimore were third also on 33 points and Jonathon Moss and Sophie Dingwall fourth on 40 points.
