Day 3 saw only one race scheduled, as it was Weymouth carnival day. This featured among other attractions a display by the “Red Arrows” at midday. With the race still in progress this provided a fantastic spectacle, some places lost and an interesting insurance claim for a port starboard collision. “We didn’t see each other, we were watching the Red Arrows”, one for Jasper Carrot, I think!
After a general recall the black flag caught out one boat. The middle and right side of the course paid. A large number chose to go left as this had paid on the previous days, they lost out heavily. First to the windward was David Brewer followed by “Genesis” Ben Lyon/Robert Moore, “Gnat” Ben Stone/James Eminson, “Get a Grip” Andrew Twinn/Aaron Woolf, Alex Palmer, Stephen Videlo and “The Business” Sam Brearey/Alex Coulton. Positions at the top were maintained around the course up to the last beat to the line. David Brewer chose not to cover again and saw Ben Lyon cross the line just in front of him. Third was Andrew Twinn and fourth James Wade who made significant gains on the last beat.
