This year's contest moved venue at short notice, from Tamworth Sailing Club whose water was besieged by weeds, to Greensforge SC for some close, competitive racing on a fine autumn Saturday.
This year's contest moved venue at short notice, from Tamworth Sailing Club whose water was besieged by weeds, to Greensforge SC for some close, competitive racing on a fine autumn Saturday.
Race one was a transit start with a beat up to the first mark, in plenty of wind. Everyone got cleanly away for the first of three races and after the first lap broke into two distinct groups, lead by locals John Wagstaff and Graham Nelson.
The wind died off in race two, and continued to do so through the afternoon, making local knowledge an advantage. Nip and tuck all the way between John Wagstaff and Ian Fletcher in both races two and three, Ian out-pointing John on the beat, even-stevens on the reaches, and John nosing ahead again on the down-hill bits. The lead changed just about every lap, and loads of covering went on in the shifty conditions while further down the fleet other contests were taking place.
Overall Results:
Pos | Sail No | Helm |
1st | 1251 | John Wagstaff |
2nd | 1332 | Ian Fletcher |
3rd | 1411 | Graham Nelson |
