Dalgety Bay Sailing Club held their annual regatta over the weekend of 29th/30th May and attracted a large entry of over 120 dinghies, with travellers as far as Grafham SC and Stokes Bay SC. The regatta incorporated the Laser 4000 and Finn Scottish Championships, and was a Scottish Traveller for RS400, RS200, Laser 2000, Laser, Laser Radial and Fireballs.

The fleets were split between 2 courses, with the asymetrics sailing off the clubhouse and the lasers and non asymetrics in Inverkeithing Bay . The first of a scheduled three races for the afternoon was completed in a light south easterly breeze. With the breeze dying, Race officers John Robertson and Alec Stevenson, sent the fleets ashore to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.

Sunday started bright and sunny a light and shifty breeze, on the asymmetric course, a short wind/ward leeward course and the scheduled three races were completed with the sea breeze coming through for the final race. In the Fast Asymetric Handicap fleet, Ian Renilson in his Musto Skiff, fought off the International 14 of Martin Wilkie and Iain McCafferty to win the series. The Laser 4000 saw 15 boats contending the Scottish Championships and Sandy McPhail and Andy Marshall put together a string of firsts and seconds to win on home waters from Hugh Watson and Susannah Bickford of Stokes Bay SC.

The 12 strong RS400 class saw Ian McCarlie and Grant Abram dominate to win with a race to spare, meanwhile things were a little closer in the RS200s with newcomers Ronnie Miller and Iain Miller heading the strong fleet with Richard and Val Evans taking second.

Over on the other course, the wind was more fickle and it took a while to set a course, but three races were completed in the building sea breeze. In the Lasers, Campbell Davidson from Largs SC filed four bullets to win from Peter Malcolm. The Radials saw similar dominance from Robin Paris of Helensburgh SC who scored straight firsts in the 31 strong fleet. The Laser 2000s was close with Robert McCulloch and Alana Cadzow taking the series by one point from Jim and Margaret Galloway.

Other class winners were Valerie Ludlow from Port Edgar YC in her Europe, and Dave Burnett in a Laser Stratos from Dalgety Bay SC.
