Burghfield Sailing Club Frostbites Series - Overall

by Chris Jordan 29 Mar 2007 09:07 BST

Sunday 25th March marked the end of Burghfield Sailing Club's Frostbites series. The event provided RS400 (15 boats) and Laser (44 boats) class racing, as well as very well attended Fast and Slow Handicap fleets. In these fleets many different classes were represented, with the main ones being; RS200 (16 boats), Blaze (12), Solo (8), Optimist (7), National 12 (6), Europe (6), Enterprise (6), Finn (3), Topper (3), Laser 4.7 (3).

Over the 11-weeks, 150 different boats completed at least one race, with individual turn-outs varying from over 100 on a nice warm and sunny day in January, to under 20 on a cold, wet and wild day in March! In general, the weather was on the stronger side of average, with none of the flat calm drifters that previous years have served up. During the same 3-month period, Burghfield has also organised specific training events for; RS400, RS200, Finn, Topper, RS Feva, National 12 and Optimist.

The full results are available from www.BurghfieldSailing.org . Surprisingly, considering the closeness of the racing across each of the fleets, the winners all seemed to do enough races to discard everything but straight 1sts.
