Marine footwear specialist, Dubarry of Ireland has announced that it is to become the Official Footwear Supplier to Top UK sailor, Nigel King. Dubarry’s announcement comes as Nigel prepares to become one of just two British entries in the international fleet of elite solo skippers competing in La Solitaire Afflelou le Figaro which starts from Caen in July.
La Solitaire will see Nigel putting his racing skills to the test as he sets off on a gruelling month long 1,876 mile journey, with the longest leg covering 762 miles between Brest and La Coruna, non-stop.
Yacht racing expert, Nigel, has competed in many classic yachting events around the world including Volvo Ocean Races, the Jules Verne Trophy and Olympic trials. He is no stranger to the importance of wearing the correct footwear to maximise sailing performance. Nigel says, “It is a great honour for me to have the leading manufacturer of technical sailing footwear as my official supplier. All too often I find myself racing in changeable and volatile conditions where footwear performance is essential for both my safety and overall comfort.”
Nigel was recently seen wearing Dubarry’s Fastnet boot in the Calais Round Britain Race, where he formed part of Dee Caffari’s crew onboard Aviva. “The new Fastnet boot from Dubarry was so comfortable” said Nigel, “I lived in them for all 1800 miles of the Calais Round Britain Race.
