Albacore Nationals at Swanage Sailing Club - Day 1

Friday the 13th was unlucky for past champion Neville Herbert and his crew Becky Harris as the former was prevented from attending day 1 of the Albacore Nationals at Swanage S C by an incident which delayed his train.
2 races were held on Friday with the same three boats in the first three positions in the 31 boat fleet - in the first race in Force 4 current International champion Chris Turner crewed by Simon Maguire was first to the windward mark, to be overtaken on the first reach by “Mr USA Albacore” Barney Harris crewed by David Byrom. Current National Champions Orlando Gledhill and John Frairy got in front at one point but were beaten to the line by Barney and Dave with Chris Turner and Simon Magiure third.
In the second race held in a Force 2 breeze, Barney and Dave led from the start with Orlando and John Frairy going very fast to take second place from Chris and Simon.
