After a delayed start due to no wind and a thunderstorm, racing finally got underway in a light, shifting breeze. Fortunately, the wind picked up for the second, third and fourth races and the sailors enjoyed some competitive racing.
The senior fleet was won easily by Laser sailor Tom French, who took first place in all four races. Behind him, there was a close battle for the next three positions. The Lasers of James Barton and Harry McVicar pushed each other all the way to finish second and third respectively, whilst Topper sailor Ashley Greenall also scored some consistent results to finish fourth overall and first senior Topper. Rob McDougall significantly improved his results throughout the day and was awarded the prize for Best Improver.
The junior fleet, for sailors aged 13 and under, was dominated by the Toppers. Annabel Cattermole overcame an early setback to win three of the four races but had to fight against a strong performance by Jonathon Hand, who finished in the top three in every race. Matthew Aldous-Horne and Max Herman were close behind and finished in third and fourth overall.
Overall Results: (27 boats, 32 sailors)
