ISO Inland Championships at Rutland Sailing Club

by Colin Snook 19 Sep 2008 08:23 BST 13-14 September 2008

Rutland Sailing Club hosted the 2008 ISO Inland Championship on 13th and 14th September with nine ISOs competing. There was no wind on Saturday but a fresher breeze on Sunday allowed the race officer to fit in 4 races.

National champions, Neil Ashby and Sam Proctor (1195) took the first 2 races from Lloyd Walker and Katie Keam-George (1185) who were followed in both cases by Ian Moss and Ellie Dalton (1207). However, Walker and Keam-George won the third and fourth races and, with Moss and Dalton denying Ashby and Proctor second place in race 3, Walker and Keam-George became 2008 Inland Champions.

Colin Snook and Alison Revitt (1190) were often challenging the top three but slipping back to finish ahead of Rob Howlett and Barry Newport (1022) in all but race one. Newcomers Ceilidh Higgs, and Alex Benfield (568) were also well up the fleet at times but finishing fifth or sixth.

Bruce Bowler and Steve Harniman (1178) were seventh in front of Dave and Andrew Skinner (949. Mark and Charlie Allatson (685) enjoyed the sunshine and scenery while making their debut to the events circuit.
