The 2009 Fotoboat calendar competition finished at the weekend, the work of incorporating the final 12 pictures into the calendar is now done and the calendar is on sale via the Fotoboat website at www.fotoboat.com. The poll was topped by Alan Henderson’s shot of the last International 14 to be built by Dave Ovington, helmed by Howard Steavenson and crewed by Ovi’s son Adam at the inaugural Tartan Trophy event, sailed at Prestwick in May.
This is the fifth year of the Fotoboat calendar and once again the pictures are a good representation of Fotoboat’s work during the year. I am pleased that one shot of our Olympic gold medallists made it into the calendar, but all the other images are from sailing events big and small around the UK. This is our core business—around the time of the Olympic regatta last year the Fotoboat team covered 2 Worlds, 3 European and 20 UK national championships at 15 UK venues. I would not take bets against the chances that during the year we photographed at least one future Olympic medallist!
We have also produced class calendars for the Solos, National 12s, Laser 2000s and Merlin Rockets, and an RS calendar featuring a range of RS dinghies. All the calendars are priced at £9.95 including postage, and discounts are available for orders of 5 or more calendars.
A warm thank you to all the clubs who have helped Fotoboat photographers to get close to the action during the season. We really couldn’t work without your help so we are very grateful to you. In return we have provided clubs and classes with 100s of pictures for use on websites and in newsletters. There is also a clubs and classes feature on our website, which is worth a look.
