Tackticks wireless Maxi Racing Range on display at METS

by Sarah Johnson, Tacktick 12 Nov 2008 10:36 GMT 18-20 November 2008

Wireless experts Tacktick’s most sophisticated range of instruments; the new Maxi range of super-large wireless displays designed for large racing and cruising yachts will be on display at the METS trade fair, from 18th to 20th November in Amsterdam.

The Maxi range comes with single digit or dual digit solar powered, wireless displays, a wireless 1.35m Vertical Wind Transmitter and a Remote Display for data in your hand and to control the instruments.

In addition the wireless, solar powered super-large displays can be interfaced with any existing NMEA navigation software and instruments to enable additional wireless displays to be fitted anywhere onboard.

The new Tacktick Wireless Maxi displays offer large solar-powered mast displays providing highly visible and accurate data. The high contrast LCD screens offer exceptionally clear 50mm digits on a black background together with extra wide data titles and a wide angle of view. The red and amber backlight options allow different colours to be selected to differentiate the data information for night racing.

The wireless Maxi displays can be quickly and easily fitted to the mast and interfaced to any other brands using the NMEA interface or simply networked to the Tacktick wireless network to provide highly visible and accurate data in all conditions from anywhere on the boat. Uniquely the Tacktick wireless displays do not require metres of heavy cabling to be installed like conventional instruments making them substantially more reliable (80% of instrument failure is due to cabling).

In line with all Tacktick’s products, which are designed by sailors for sailors, the Maxi’s offer significantly more functions than other brands, and are dedicated to improving boat performance with the highly responsive Line Bias, Wind Shift and Timer functions as well as unique indicators for acceleration and speed trends. In addition the advanced Set, Drift, Turn and Course to Steer functions give racers a unique advantage in tidal waters. The Tacktick Remote Display used with the Maxi range, not only provides you with additional performance data and invaluable graphing pages to monitor trends but can also be used to control and configure the Maxi displays from anywhere in the boat.

Simple customization options allow you to show only the data required, minimizing the time needed to select the page options. Alternatively, the innovative ‘Auto Leg’ function changes the display to show information needed for each leg without the need to press any buttons.

As with all Tacktick’s instruments the Maxi displays are capable of receiving and displaying all forms of data wirelessly including polar data, true wind speed and angles, VMG, compass headings, speed, depth and wind, waypoints, SOG, COG as well as any on-board navigation data. The Maxi displays have been developed in the racing environment and are robust, wireless, and waterproof to 10m giving them unbeatable reliability.

With single displays starting at £599.95 inc VAT, the new Tacktick Maxi range is the most competitive race boat package on the market.
