Race 8 of the South Australian Fireball Championship was held as Grange Sailing Club on 22nd February.

The fleet was greeted with clear skies, a gentle 8 knot SW breeze and friendly club volunteers.

The race was well won by Nathan Stockley/Sam Muirhead sailing their new boat. Robin Inns/Joel Coultas finished in 2nd position which was enough for them to take the overall title. 3rd was Greg Allison/Richard Watson lifting them to 3rd position overall.

After 8 races of the South Australian championships the overall winners have been decided however there are mini battles being played out amongst the fleet.

With the final 2 races to be held at Adelaide Sailing Club on March 15th there is much to play for with minor places and handicap positions wide open.

Come down to the club to watch the racing and have a look at the boats. We would welcome the opportunity to show you the Fireball class and invite you to take a boat for a sail.

Our National Championships will be held in December 2009 at Port Stephens, NSW and the Fireball World Championships are planned for Mandurah, Western Australia in 2012. Now is a great time to jump into the class!
