On the penultimate day of the largest-ever Singapore National Youth Sailing Championship, there are three to four races remaining. This year, 404 sailors are on water competing for the national youth titles including entries from Belgium, Denmark, France and Malaysia.

Leading the Optimist Gold fleet is 12 year old Ryan Lo from Tao Nan School who has sailed a consistent regatta so far winning five out of eight races. Andrew Tang (Raffles Institution) trails him by four points in second position followed by Kimberly Ng (Tanjong Katong Girls’ School) in third. The National Youth Championship is one of the two selection events (the second being the Sentosa Optimist Open Championship in June). Five sailors will be selected to represent Singapore at the IODA Optimist World Sailing Championship in July.

In the Byte fleet, Asian Youth Games & Youth Olympic Games squad member Terence Choo (Raffles Institution) holds a comfortable lead of 13 points over fellow squad members Nathan Tang (Raffles Institution) and Darren Choy (Singapore Sports School) tied on points in second and third places respectively.
