Hyde Sails has announced the appointment of a new Canadian distributor, K-Force, based in the
Great Lakes
K-Force was formed in January 1999 by Ken Forsyth in Collingwood, at the south end of Georgian Bay, the largest Bay on the Great Lakes. A full service loft, Ken and his team do everything - from minor repairs to new sails, as well as custom covers, and hardware as needed. To best serve their customers, they are on call seven days a week.
Ken learnt to sail while teaching Scuba in Tahiti, later joining a 53ft sloop and sailing to Perth, Australia where the America’s Cup was being held. A graduate from George Brown College, Toronto with
Honours in Industrial Sewing and the Upholstery trade, his addiction to sailing was immediate and sailmaking was the obvious path. The past decade or so has seen Ken racing both locally and in the US, including events such as Key West Race Week, and several NOOD Regattas, but the Bayview YC (Detroit) and Chicago YC to Mackinac Island Races of which he has done 11, remain a favourite. Ken explains: “In 2006, we became the first Canadian boat to win the Chicago to Mac race. We returned in 2008 for the 100th running of the race and finished second.”
Ken explains: “The partnership with Hyde Sails will allow me to offer quality sails to my customers. I’m very optimistic for a bright future with K-Force and Hyde. As the Hyde brand becomes synonymous with quality here and the knowledge of personal yet professional service is known on this side of the Atlantic, business is bound to thrive and spread in North America as it is elsewhere.”
