Cadet Europeans at Club De Mar de Almeria, Spain – Overall

GBR one-two

Chris Brewer & Ole Alcock sailing GBR 8997 are European Champions. With three victories, a 3rd and a 13th for a total of 19 points, the Parkstone Y C pairing were 18 points clear of runners-up Sophie Dingwall & Chris Sycamore from Fishers Green S C in GBR 5000. Third place went to Tom Alleman & Danis Tanguy in BEL 9739 with 38 points.

A further two races were sailed on the final day, making a total of six. In a F2 south-westerly light breeze, the Race Officer again set a triangle/windward/leeward course finishing on a windward beat. Michal Kliment & Veronika Zivna in CZE 9649 led at the first windward mark from Chris Tiernan & Ashley Dunford in GBR 9370 and Chris & Ole in GBR 8997. The Czech pairing led throughout the race and took the gun ahead of Tom Alleman & Danis Tanguy in BEL 9739. Chris & Ole were third, Chris & Ashley fourth and Will Kennedy & Rhos Hawes in GBR 8539 sixth.

With the discard kicking in with the fifth race, Chris & Ole were assured of victory. In the final race, Toon de Munck & Eline Spittaels in BEL 8909 took the gun from Henry Mills & Oliver Jones in GBR 8845, having held first and second place since the windward mark. Third place went to Sam Vinckier & Thijs Klumpers in BEL 9149. Amy Yeoman & Naomi Flack in GBR 9161 were sixth with Sophie Dingwall & Chris Sycamore one place behind in GBR 5000.
