Arthur Henderson & Matt Currell have retained their title of National Champions. The Salcombe/Parkstone pairing sailing Bad Influence 8561 achieved six podium places from the nine races sailed, including three consecutive victories on what proved to be the final day.
Runners-up were Sophie Dingwall & Christopher Sycamore from Fishers Green in Le You You 5000, who also achieved three victories, with William Kennedy & Rhos Hawes from Fishers Green/South Cerney third in Genesis 8539.
This year the Cadet Class has also introduced a trophy for the National Junior Champions, who are Christopher Brewer & Ole Alcock from Parkstone, sailing Executrix 8997. The title and trophy are awarded to the best placed team with an under-16 helm and is designed to recognise the achievements of sailors who may decide to follow the RYA Pathway programme. Chris and Ole achieved five podium places including two victories and finished fourth overall.
92 teams entered this year’s National and Open Championships at Pwllheli sponsored by Zhik. Ten races were scheduled over six days but high winds and choppy seas restricted racing to only three days.
