Friday 9th of April will see the launch of Ocean Youth Trust Ireland’s brand new fleet of RS sailboats, which were delivered a few weeks ago. These boats will be used to “inspire a new generation of sailing enthusiasts” and local school pupils and staff are invited to take part in the launch celebrations.
OYTI run a variety of sailing programmes using dinghies and up to the sixty eight foot yacht Lord Rank. Children as young as 10 years old take part and benefit from the fantastic experience of learning how to sail, the value of teamwork and healthy outdoor activity.
“We are proud that RS boats were selected by the OYTI” said RS managing director Martin Wadhams. “They wanted boats that would inspire a new generation, as well as be practical for hard fleet use. And that is exactly what these RS boats do.”
The launch will take place at Queens Quay, Belfast, from 3 to 5pm. Fun and games will be organised for children and adults alike, to give a feel for the new boats. If you are involved in children’s education or activities in Northern Ireland, get along to the launch to find out how your organisation could become involved.
