Last weekend Loch Ryan Sailing Club hosted the joint GP 14 and Laser 2 Scottish Championships sponsored by McMillan Hotel Group. A North Westerly F 3/4 occasional F 5 combined with unbroken sunshine throughout the weekend provided perfect sailing conditions for the two fleets.

Across the Laser 2 fleet the conditions could not have been better to show how much fun the two man trapezing dinghy can be.

Local sailors Jude Baird and Fred Fuller were reveling in the conditions and likewise dominating the racing even chancing their luck with a port end start in Race 2 to catch the rest of the fleet napping.

Opportunity to fly spinnakers were plentiful sending crews into orbit and on occasions capsizing with helms falling out of boats. Father and son Richard and Kieran Stevenson's training over the last couple of weeks paid off as they grew in confidence throughout every race culminating in a win in Race 6.

Baird/Fuller had 5 wins from 5 races while Tim and Carol Jones from Fisherrow Sailing Club Edinburgh separated the two local boats as they did sensible sailing to produce a decent run of results to take runner up spot.

Both fleets thanked Loch Ryan Sailing Club and its members who had laid on such a great weekends racing and social programme and hopefully will return in future years.

Results

1st - Baird/Fuller
2nd - Jones/Jones
3rd - Stevenson/Stevenson
