Laser 5000 Nationals at Lymington Town Sailing Club - Day 1

by Thomas Hill 4 Jul 2010 09:55 BST 3-4 July 2010

8 Boats made the trip south for the Laser 5000 Nationals this Saturday. After an hours trip to the start line from Lymington Town Sailing Club, the boats lined up for 3 races.

With wind and chop, many inland sailors were surprised, though spirits were high as Mark Kudlinski and Olly Scrimshaw were heard terrorising the 4000 fleet with their euphoric singing. The top 3 positions were contested by three crews with Mark Reynall and crew at the top overnight.

The day ended with readings of over 20 mph on the race course. And with the forecast set to be sunny and build to stronger tomorrow and the leaders unable to make the second day, the National title is up for grabs.
