by Lorraine Alonzi 17 May 2011 13:30 BST 27-30 May 2011

With just over a week to go until the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series sets sail, Commodore John Watson of Clyde Cruising Club, is calling on sailors from across the UK, and further afield, to sign up to this year’s event.

Over 100 boats from across UK have already signed up, including previous competitors John Corson and the Salamander team, James Cumming with Rogue Trader and Anthony O’Leary with Antix.

This years Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series sees various new elements making the weekend more exciting than ever with the introduction of new courses for all fleets and the offer to yachts keen to take part in the Scottish Series for one day to enter the Round the Island Race, amongst other aspects.

Commodore John Watson of organisers Clyde Cruising Club said: “A number of previous competitors are returning again this year which is fantastic and we have seen a number of new boats sign up which is testament to the success of the event.

“Sailors who take part will experience an action packed weekend of sailing and shoreside activity in Tarbert which becomes a hive of activity over the weekend. It’s a fantastic way to spend the bank holiday, so here’s hoping for some sunshine to top off the experience.”
