The National 12 Championships are being held this year at Hayling Island Sailing Club from 2-5th June 2012. These dates coincide with the Queen's Jubilee weekend and so you can do the whole championship without having to take a day off work!
Since the Class moved to the four day championship formula we have seen a resurgence in entries and now
average around 65 boats - this year we want to increase that even further! The 12 Association runs a dedicated website for
the event so that it is easy to find out about all the latest news and information as the date draws closer.
The Championships are generously
sponsored by GILL, Pinnell & Bax and Fullers Brewery. GILL are our main prizes sponsor, and Fullers provide the beer!
Early Entry Prize Draw
Pinnell & Bax are offering early entrants the chance to enter a competition to win a new Jib which will be drawn on the 12 stand at the RYA Dinghy Show at
Alexandra Palace. In order to qualify for the prize draw competition your entry must be received by the NTOA secretary before Friday 2 March 2012.
Don't own a National 12 but want to pit your skills against the best 12 sailors?
The National 12 is a superbly refined racing dinghy with a competitive sailing weight between 16-23 stone that rewards good sailing skills. As
a restricted development class which has been around for over 75 years there are many types of boat to choose from, so something for everybody.
This year the Association will try their hardest to match interested 'visiting' competitors to boats to borrow for the event, so if you are
interested in coming to Hayling Island in June to take part please visit the 12 championship website early where you will find a dedicated page
for those who wish to borrow a boat for the event.
The earlier you express an interest in joining in the better the chance the Association
will have of matching you to as boat. Competition is fierce across all types of boat in the fleet so whether you borrow a vintage (clinker
construction), Admirals Cupper (single bottomed) or double bottomed boat, the racing is just as competitive and rewarding, with prizes and recognition
in all types.
For more information, both about the event, how to go about borrowing a boat, and how to enter visit the Burton Week 2012 website.
