We are delighted to announce that dinghy and catamaran sailing holiday specialists, Wildwind Holidays, have come on board as a Gold sponsor for the 2012 Brewin Dolphin British Hobie Cat National Championships, to be held as part of the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC) 150th anniversary celebrations.
Wildwind’s founder, Simon Morgan, has had a 30 year long love affair with the Hobie cat, including attending the 1993 European Championships organised by the RCIYC in St Aubins’ bay in Jersey and winning the British National Championships himself in 1999.
In 2001 Simon’s company Wildwind hosted the 2001 Hobie 16 European championships in the resort of Vassiliki on the Greek island of Lefkas where Wildwind have been offering their unique brand of sailing holidays since 1988.
Amazing footage of that event in which 5 of the Gold fleet races took place in winds between 20 and 40 kts can be seen below.
Look out especially at 11 minutes when Mitch Booth stages his first capsize in 20 years right in front of the camera!
