It's the final weekend of semi finals racing for the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show SailX Championship © SailX
There are still two days left to clinch those all important points and a potential place in the live finals of the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show SailX Championship 2012 as the semi-finals phase draws to a close.
So far some 585 people have registered for the championship and there has been some extremely competitive and exciting racing taking place, as everyone vies for their place at the live final to be held at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2012 at Alexandra Palace next weekend (3-4 March 2012).
Alongside the 40 finalists who will be heading to the show next weekend the SailX team will be armed with 10 laptops, 5 Ethernet switches, two routers, two servers, plasma screens, power extensions, power adaptors, Wi-Fi access points, plasma screens and miles and miles of Ethernet cables, to produce what will be a very exciting 'final' at the Show, live on the Volvo Main Stage.
With commentary from Hugh Styles and Mark Jardine, all the racing action will be shown on the big screen on both days of the show.
With both individual and class prizes up for grabs, including the new Virtual Endeavour Trophy, it promises to be a well fought battle and if the performance of the Tornado class is anything to go by, having produced a stellar performance during the semi-finals phase leaping from 47th place to a top 10 place today, then victory could be any ones!
“The battle to make the top 10 is electric”, commented Amando Estela, creator of SailX. “Both the J80 and Musto Skiff Classes are now also threatening the Top-10, but qualification for the top-10 class ranking is far from over yet. There are still 15 regattas to go (last regatta at 0930 GMT on Sunday) and competitors only needing to complete three regattas to get a full score.
“Will we see a late fight back from the Mirror, Tempest or Optimist classes this weekend?”
